At the Sons of Temperance Conference a delegate advocated a tax on Wool to make up for loss of revenue through the prohibition of alcohol. Ho pointed out that wool averaged £13 por bale, of which £3 went in labour, so there was a huge profit. A tax of a pound- a bale would yield two million pounds annually.
