FOOTBALL.
ASSOCIATION GAME. A meeting of the recently-established Wellington Wednesday Football Association was held last evening at the I.M.C.A. Mr. J. D. Paton was in tho chair. Messrs. E. Bolton, F. Elton, and G. MKay wero appointed to represent tho Wednesday Association on the Management Committee to control tho Wednesday came. The secretary reported that five clubs had become affiliated to the association, and as applications might be received up till April 20 it was hoped that other clubs would join and take part in the Wednesday competition. It was mentioned that Diamonds would .pfobably enter a Wednesday team. In a discussion upon the rules, it was pointed out that provision/ was made only for Wednesday players taking part in Saturday matches, whereas the rules did not say that Saturday players might join AVcdnesday teams. Seeing that the words "and vice versa" were omitted,. delegates expressed tho opinion that revision of the rules might be. desirable. - At the same time, delegates were confident that the Management Committee would do all in their power to assist in establishing tie- Wednesday competition on a satisfactory basis. It was resolved that not more than two Saturday players bo allowed to be represented in any one Wednesday team..
The new teams were allotted the following colours:—Artillery, red, white, and blue hoops; Union, red and black; Y.M.C.A., red, yellow, and black hoops; Chemists, white 'shirts and blue pants; Hearts,: maroon.The opening match of tho competition was fixed for May 4. ■ The chairman remarked that it was likely a cup would be presented for competition.
