HASTINGS LEATHER-RUBBER COMPANY.
■ i At a meeting of directors of the. New Zealand Leather-Rubber Company, held at Hastings on Saturday last, Messrs. Rush and James, architects, were authorised to accept the tender of Messrs. Hay and Son to erect, the -factory for the sum, of £989 10s. Other■tenders received 1 , were :—J. Garnetfc, . £1004; Grant and Flower, £1020; T. Styles. £1060: J. W. Monk, £1160 ; Steven and Son, £1191; J, Griffin, £1303. Mr. Griffin's tender included extra.. concrete work. The building is 150 ft. x 80ft.', tfce roof being built in two spans of 40ft. eaoh. Commodious offices,' conveniences, and' stores are provided for, boiler-room, engine-room, coal and.'coke storage, and. a splendid artesian water supply are also provided. The . floors throughout are of concrete. The framing of timber, the roof , and wall covering of oorrugated iron. ■■ The building is to be completed by May 31, when- the machinery will be at once erected,'and a start made with the works.
