OTAKI. The annual general meeting of the Rahui Hockey Club was held on Friday evening at the Town Hall, Mr. L. Kilmister presiding. There was an attendance of about a dozen. The balancesheet as read was considered highly satisfactory, but no,, report was submitted. It was decided not to amalgamate with Otaki, but to have a club as formerly, and to share the expensc-s of the ground with the town club. Mr. Monckton was elected patron, Mr. Byron Brown president, and last year's vice-presidents were re-elected, with Messrs. Brandon aJid Bennett added to the number; captain, Mr. L. Kilmister; vice-captain, secretary' and treasurer, I Mr. P. Freeman; delegates to association, captain and Mr. Judd. The names of several players were handed in as willing to participate in a match; on Easter Monday with the Hui Mai (Wellington) Club. LEVIN. A meeting of the Board of Directors of the L-evin Y.M.C.A. was held in tho rooms on Friday evening. Present: Rev. T. F. Jones (in the chair), Bev. J. White, Messrs. P. Stewart, H. Walker, O. Ransom, F. E. Parker, J. Robertson, and T. G. Vincent (secretary).- One new member was proposed and accepted, and Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., was elected an honorary member. The principal business was that of arranging for carrying- on tSse various branches of work connected with the association. The following were appointed, subject to; their' acceptance, convenors of committees: —Religions work, Mr. W. G. Adkin; literary and debating, Mr. R-. R.' Harris;, educational and library, Mr. J. Robertson ;- social; Mr. F. By Parker; physical, Mr. D., TV. Matheso'n; superintendent of . boys' department, Mr. J. W.Gibsonl Mr. O. Ransom was appointed assistant secretary, and .Mr. L. H.' M.'Calman assistant: treasurer. : , It' was' j decided to place on record the .board's gratitude.for the help received from the ladies' auxiliary in connection with th« recent banquet. . .i" '. Mr. R-ohert Bishop, Seddon - Street, Wereroa, had his arm caught between tho bench and a beam at Mr. Bartholomew's sawmill on the Upper Ohau . on Friday. . He was : conveyed' horile. Fortunately the injuries are not serious. . '
A sheep was presented .for guessing purposes at the sports meeting on St. Patrick's Day by M'Leavey and Tompsitt. The correct- weight, 641b., was guessed by Mrs. Ryder, arid Messrs. J. M'Leavey and Newman.Tile animal was put up for auction, aiid the buyer caused, it to be sold again, and w'hen finally knocked down, the funds of .the Sports Association .bene-, fited by over' i 3. . .
The annual meeting of the-'Levin Wanderers'- Football, Club was held on Friday evening. The report and bal- . ance-sheet were, read and adopted, the latter showing a credit balance of £1 10s. lOd. ■ Several new members were elected. Officers ivero elected as follow: —Patron, Mr. .B. R. The' Horoivheriua .Referees' Association. held its annual meeting on-Fri-day evening, when the report arid bal-. .an'ce-shcet were adopted. -The membership and finances are, highly, satisfactory,' and officers were elected for tha .ensuing season.- ... Mr. F. M. B. Fisher, M.P., was a visitor to the local tennis courts on Saturday, afternoon, and took part in several games with various players. Mr. Fisher's style Was more, or less a revelation to. the onlookers. ;
I CREYTOWN. . ■ I The monthly meeting of the Greytowi i District- High School Committee was., lield on Friday evening' last. The headmaster's report - showed -, the Primary-f Department's attendance percentage to bo 93.2, and' the . Secondary Department's attendance percentage to lie - . i) 7.7. 1 The headmaster also reported ' that-the cadets had'-been very success- - ful in. shooting at; tho butts, having won first; 1 second, and third prizes at - the "Cadets Disley." There were about 70 competitors. The. cadets have now V-. won tho shield, and the championship ;, for three years running. The; sum of £2 2s: was voted for prizes'for the . girls' tennis tournament.'
