LODGE MEETING.
The weekly meeting of the Star of Newtown Lodge, 1.0.Gt.T., was held in St. Thomas's. Schoolroom, Riddiford Street, on Wednesday evening, Bro. A. J. Wieks, C.T., presiding. Tho Grand Lodge degree was conferred on five members of the Kia Ora Lodge, H.M.S. Challenger, by Bro. A. B. Thomson, G.C. The attendance of members and visitors, about 110, was the largest that has been seen in the lodge-room' sinco its inauguration. Two candidates were proposed for initiation at next session. 'The item on tho programme for the evening was, "Invito Kia Ora and Trafalgar Lodges of H.M.S. Challenger and H.M.S. . Powerful. respectively." Tho visitors were officially received and accorded a hearty welcome. Tho officers were asked to officer the lodge. Bro. Irwin, C.T.; Kia Ora Lodge, 'then took tho chair, and was assisted by Bro. Lawson, C.T., Trafalgar Lodge, about 40 naval brethren being present. A very, encouraging report was received in reference to the Trafalgar Lodge of H.M.S. Powerful. This is a, new lodge, and has at present 32 members. • Bro. Thomson, G.C,'then spoke a few words of welcome and advice to members of the Trafalgar Lodge, andalso bade farewell to tho members of the Kia Ora Lodge, who are paying their final visit to New Zealand. A musical programme was given, the following taking part:—Song, Sister Barrett; duct, Sister Barrett and Bro. Israel; duct, Bros. Wicks and ..Israel; •. songs, Bros. Place, Dickson, Wraight, Allen, Bundorburg,- and Rashford; selection, Bro. Wicks; recitations, Bros. Dickson and Price..
