BARQUE IN A CYCLONE
NARROW.ESCAPE OP THE PHAROS. By TeleKraph—Press Aasoclation-Oopyrleht ' (Rec. March 17, 10.30 p.m.) . Sydney, March 17. The barque Pharos, from Autofagasta, narrowly escaped foundering. She was caught in a cyclone eighty miles off tho Cook group and thrown on her beam ends, the ballast shifting. The crew then awaited the end, when a shift of the wind caused the vessel to right herself, only to be thrown over on the other side. She again righted, however,' and;the weather moderated. j; .' , [The barque Pharos is well- known in Now. Zealand .waters, having delivered Liverpool cargo some five years ago at Wellington and Dunedin. She was built in 1891'-at Grangemouth, and is of 1291 tons gross , register. Autofagasta is one of the nitrate ports in the extreme north of Chile.] .
