The men of the Merchant and Royal Navies were entertained at the Missions to Seamen Institute last evening, when Mr. and Mrs. 11. S. Hislop provided a most delightful concert. ,^ r *' Moore, the' uiissioner, occupied the chair.; The following contributed items to the programme: —.Dulcimer solo, Mr. Howell; song, Miss O'Donovan; song, Mrs. Kosej song, Mr. Hislop; duet, Mrs. Burke and Sir Hislop; song, llr. Clark-Johnson; quartet, Miss O'Donovau, Mrs. Burke, aud Messrs. Hislop and Clark-Johnson; song, with dulcimer accompaniment, Mr. Howell. Mrs. Burke and Miss Dall presided at the piano. Several popular choruses were sung in grand stylo hy the audience, and a most amusing conundrum competition was won "by sailors from ships in port. During a short interval the missioner delivered an earnest temperance address, taking the words, "Who says'so ?" for a subject. Eight men subsequently took the pledge of total abstinence as a result. Those who had taken part in the concert were accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion. . :
