The populace of Rustcbuk supported Stifanoff's resistance to the decree, and a melee followed. The polico killed sixteen, and wounded a hundred personsmany seriously. The Minister of the Interior (M. Takek) is widely blamed, as are also the police and military at Bnstchuk, for ovorzealonsly and culpably executing the Court's order. In face of the public excitement the garrison was reinforced. King Ferdinand was much upset by the occurrence.
