The wind was smart, and there was a light sea. The Sayonara took the lead from the 6tart,' steadily widening the gap separating. the contestants,' and rounded the buoy 7min. 40sec. ahead of the Culwalla. The home journey was made with a fresh wind astern, the Sayonara finishing 13min. 12seo. to the good. This is a minute and a half more than the extreme time • allowance she could be asked to givp the Culwalla.
