, IMPORTANT CHANGES; PENDING. , Referring to-his recent visit to the Cambridge Sanatorium the Hon. li. Buddo, .Minister for Public Health, states that' he has made some arrangements for. I having a largo area-placed under cultivation. :. He anticipates, that ere long an abundance of fruit aud vegetables will be raised on tho farm for-the:needs' of the institution. In regard to' the reorganisation. scheme at . tho institution .it- is .proposed to move somo of'the shelters in the Plunkat colony.to the Mason colony in order to accommodate patients* who show evidcnce-of the curative .treat, ment. This propcsal, he believes; 1 will be of considerable benefit to the,patients,and it is being carried out with a viewto economy in administration. The Plunket colony will then be considered a convalescent colony where tho patients will bo given somo light, employment to fit them for .the'tree-planting camp at Karero. The percentage of cases -in which tho disease has be-en arrested is- 37; and other, cases are in an advanced stage of impovemeht. No patients are now admitted to the institution-who are !!' , a " advanced tfage of consumption, ■it being intended that the institution shall be an educative one for the purpose of dealing- with the disease from - a curative point,of view. No deaths have occurred at the institution' during the last three months. Tho number of patients, at..;the present time is over 50; toil'were transferred ,lately 1 to. the treeplanting camp at ICarerc. , Mr. Buddo states that although the sanatorium is being run as economically., as possible the efficiency has not been impaired. Mr Buddo will probably visit the Karere treeplanting .camp at an early tlatc; -
