CASH ATHLETIC UNION.
REMITS FOR CONFERENCE.
A_ conference of delegates from the various centres under the co-ntrol of the New Zealand Cash Athletic union is to be held .at Grsyinouth on.March 16 and lv. AjiKvngn. the remits to be'considered are the following:—
Centre suggests the de« : r of - 'providing riil*s to govern the Sheffield Handicaps; that the union snoiud take ovor the control of cycling, and that, in the event of that being earned, ihev .should increase the number of fhe members of Hie Executive Council by three; that there should be free admission for competitors to any sports meeting; and that the headquarters' of the union- shall be in Dunediil '
' , es .' , Centre.—That standards bo cstabhsned; that the union take ovor the control of cycling; that centre secretanes be furnished with a list of nominations; that, unregistered competitors be prevented from taking jart; that a scheme be framed for the insurance of competitors against accidents; that competitors when first "registering be supplied with a copy of the rules gratis.
. Hawke's Bay . Centre.—Further .provision against the offence of "ringing-in." Taranialu Centre.—That negotiations for a reciprocal agreement with the New Zealand League of Wheelmen be cancelled, and that the union take over the control of cycling;- also full control of Highland events. ,'
North Canterbury Centre.—That the whole of the executive members of the oounoil shall reside, in the city, and that the headquarters of the union shall be situated in Christchurch.'
Marlborough Centre.—That. furtheT.provision be made for dealing with the case 'of a. competitor who may decline to sign declaration of identity' when'called upon so to do ; the advertising in the "Official Calendar"'of all registered runnera. and the supplying of a list of same on payment of a feo of a shilling. ' Feildiflg Centre.—That representatives of all centres meet annually at Wellington.
Southland Centre.— I That. provision be made for the selection of athletes for championship meetings and for. bearing the expenses of same; that provision be mad© for deciding cases of "tiring for points" for a cup or trophy; that the rule relating to eatch-as-catch-can." in wrestling events be amended; that , the championship quoits distance shall be 21 yards, and thai' the prize bo, ; not less than' £& ss. ajad medal ; that, at least » quorum of the.members of the : council shall reside' in the' centre in. which the secretary of the union:is resident.
One o£ the vice-presidents has also given notice of tho amendment of some of the existing rules. • )
