The president welcomed Mr. Eobinson who, he said, lud- of' thi original committee when the associatioi was first inaugurated, and stated tha liewas very glad to see hinTTjack amoni .them.' ; '.Correspondence- was read , from th secretary of- the Gisborne branch of thi Earners' Union, embodying a resolutioi passed at a public, meeting of farmers ii that'district, suggesting that it should b made compulsory' that all meat for expor should .bo graded, in the same manne: as butter, cheese, -, and .homp.;. also tha such steps should bo taken as might bi necessary to protect farmers' interest both in the Dominion and at Home; alsi to pool shipments if necessary. ■ Major' Dunk , said ,hei would like, ti hear what tho farmers among them ha( to . say on the subject. Personally hi thought that it would be an cxcellen thing to have the meat graded. Mr. J. M. Johnston said when Mr. E S. " Abraham was on th« committee hi went into this matter .veryfully; -bu farmers were very apathetic about it, ant Mr. Abraham .could get- nothing donei 'Mr'.'
