MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Waitaugi Consolidated.—ln the western section the drive is in 162 ft.. from the ihamber. Quartz is coming in from the jreak, \yhioli may indicate a reef close at land. The Beach level. Tararu, is in 40ft. Waiotahi.-The sixth stope on, the Cure feet, i\o. 5 level, has been carried we9t of the rise for 5811. The reef is about 12in. in width, aud good colours of gold are seen. Intermediate level: The stoping of the small block east of the rise on the tiangingwall leader .is being proceeded with. No 4 level: The stopes on the hang ingwall leader are being continued as usual, and good dabs of gold are occasionilly seen. The second stope on the hangingwall portion of the main reef has been in hand and small colours of gold have been _ seen. The. crosscut north from , the liangingwall leader is now in 79ft,, but nothing of importance has yet been met with. The crosscut east from the Mary Ann No. 2 level is in 258 ft. from the shaft. Phoenix.—The late heavy rain has given some trouble., The timbers' under , the foundation of the head gear . of. the shaft were al! coming down, but it has been patched up. Victoria.—Tho • winze frbm No. 3 level is 5 it e came in from the footwall is now running parallel with the main reef, and' about the same dip. 18 about three feet-of country-rock dividing the two. The: footwall branch is nine inches wide, of kiridly-looking quartz, showing bright minerals. The footwall branch in the drive shows colours of gold/ From the stopes above No. 1 level a fair amount of crushing dirt is being won. A sixth stope has been started from the end of the winze. ...••• •Mountain King.—Driving north at the intermediate level the country is a firm andesite. When, breaking down the reef no gold was seen. Stoping south tho reef is opening out to a nice body, of 6tone,. and showing strong' colours of gold well distributed .through the ore. Stoping north the country is a little broken, which has caused the reef to be of small dimensions, and the ore is of a'poorer grade. New Sylvia.-r-The north face on the reef has. been < extended Bft., with ; reef formation opening out, but chiefly on the side carrying the lower grade ore. The galena ore in centre of reef continues, and when assayed separately gives very satisfactory values. The poorer ore is-regu-larly sampled, - and all ore of payable value; is saved, and stacked. ' No. 2 rise has holed through.to the upper level with' both end 3,. and men .ate at;, present engaged taking out the ore in the centre.; It' will then be necessary to construct Burning across the top of the rise to carry' the storm water along the floor of the old level. First-class ore has been carried through to : .tlie- floor of the old level, and ill lias been carefully saved for crushing. Tairua Monarch.—No. 2 level, driving north, and south, on No-. 3 reef, is being continued. In the south the reef is • now about 6ft. in thickness. . The ore broken 3Ut shows fair dish prospects, and colours 3f gold can.be seen in the stone. In the north the reef is a .strong body of solid jtone, about 4ft. in thickness,: rich ore showing in the. full width. One shift started to drive north' on, No. 2,reef. At' Lhc point of starting the reef wis onlj Dne inch in thickness, but two holes bored in the hangingwall disclosed a body of stone. About one: foot of stone is showing.. By pounding the same, fair dish prospects can bo obtained. Karangahake.—ln the Taukani drive the reef has again been crossed from east to west on a long, angle, as the ground is not so treacherous to ,work'under tho reef. iU the point'we.crossed over it is 10ft. wide. Tory little quartz has been broken this kveek. -Ross's'level: The drive under-:the nottom of the winzo has been extended 7ft. : ;or the week through firm sandstone, with quartz stringers .'• from .4. to 8 inches in .vidtli crossing every few feet; it' seems to ie a large crosscut reef and stringers of juartz for the last 9ft.' of driving, which should have a benefit on the reef'where .hey junction. Several prospects have been; > ?ot from these stringers during the week, Dut so far they are of poor value.' New. Waitaia—ln the : block ''above 'the ritermediate level, the reef, although very ;rratic in .size, prospects extremely . well, ind is showing visible gold in. tho stone, ibout Bft. of reef has been strippd south ; >f the slide at No. 5 level, and will be. Droken down' early this week. The stone ooks well," the' reef - being well defined. Phe battery, resumed crushing on Saturlay. ; A trial is being made of a parcel >f low grade ore, which is easily obtained. Dhe contractors for ,the. low level have Iriven 15ft. for the. week, making a'total listance of 401 ft. since starting. There \s. l little more water making in the country, »therwise ,no change.
