Three seamen belonging to the Nei Zealand Shipping Company's steama Rirantaka—Arthur Cave, Angus MTJah and Kofaert Goodrich—pleaded guilty b deserting from the steameT. It was state* that the men left the ship on Frida; morning, and went on a drinking tout The captain of the vessel, who gave th< men a good character, did not press fo: a penalty. Each of the accused wa ordered to pay 7s. costs, and to remai in oustody until the vessel left Welling ton. DISORDERLY CONDUCT. A plea of guilty iras entered by Miohae Chas. O'Brien to charges of being diunl and disorderly and wilfully damaging s constable's uniform. On the first ohnTg< accused was fined iOs., with the option o: 14 days' imprisonment, and on the eeoonc charge he was convicted and ordorod t< make good the damage done (235.), In do fault seven daya' imprisonment. OTHER CASES. Robert. Headland was fined £3, in default H days' imprisonment, for using ob scone languago on Thorndon Quay. Three hrst offenders for drunkenness had convictions recorded against them.
