The dividend for the year at the rate of 7 per -cent, per annum absorbs £14,000; £10W is written off the. The New Zaaland Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., .report as follows:—We hold our fortnightly sale last week, when we offered a catalogue of about 3500 skins, a- quantity of hides, calfskins, and tallow, also a number of bags of wool; Prices were firm at last sales rates, and thovo was a good attendance of buyers. We quote—Wool, in bass: Crossbred, eoarra, 7Jd. to BJd. per lb.; pieces and bellies, crossbred, 4d. to 5Jd.; lambs, super, 93d. - lambs, seedy, 5Jd. to 61d. Prices' were on the whole slightly easier. The offerings were chiefly short-woolled skins and shorn lambskins, which were about a farthing lower than was the case last week, and, at the lower rango of prices, buyers operated fairly freely. Mr. Harry Palmer reports a moderate entry of pigs at his Palmerston" sale last week, these being confined 'principally to weaners, slips, and stores. . Very' few porkers were offcrine. The report adds —
We had a very hie entry o[ poultry of splendid all-round duality, and prices showed a distinct improvement. There is a scarcity of vegetables, such as cabbage, carrots, and parsnips. Potatoes are firm in price, and there is a tfood demand for sound samples. Onions arc now nioro plentiful, and prices are easier. We have had an exceptionally hea-;y week with fruit, over 2000 cases of Uawkc's Bay and other colonial fruit, being handled. Prices are on a par with previous quotations, pears and peaches being slightly easier, while tomatoes showed a slight improvement.
