HOSPITAL ENGULFED.
Raibl, a small place in Carinthia (Aus-tria-Hungary) -lias been the soene of an extraordinarysubsidence, • involving the total disappearance of a two-storey building which was used as a hospital for miners. Its ■ seven - occupants, comprising . a patient and the. resident surgeon,, with his family,_ went down with the dwelling. It is believed ■ (says' a Vienna message) that a disused gallery existed in one portion of the mine, direotly under the hospital, and that this caused the subsidence. Eye-witnesses say that the building disappeared in a few seconds, "with a loud roar," and every trace .of the hospital was 60 . completely obliterated that the people who saw it disappear believed that they had lost their senses and were the victims of halluoination. ( : Dr. the surgeon, was dressing the injuries of a miner who had been injured while at work when the collapse occurred. . When rescue parties arrived they found a deep depression in the earth whero the hospital had stood, but no sign of the budding itself. No hope is entertained that any of the occupants of the house are alive. ;
