Raibl, a small place in Carinthia (Aus-tria-Hungary) -lias been the soene of an extraordinarysubsidence, • involving the total disappearance of a two-storey building which was used as a hospital for miners. Eye-witnesses say that the building disappeared in a few seconds, "with a loud roar," and every trace .of the hospital was 60 . completely obliterated that the people who saw it disappear believed that they had lost their senses and were the victims of halluoination. When rescue parties arrived they found a deep depression in the earth whero the hospital had stood, but no sign of the budding itself.
