, Yesterday afternoon a meeting, of the Society, for the Protection of Women and Children was held in the, society's rooms, "Willis Street, when the following members were, present :- J Mrs. A..K. Atkinson (in the chair), . Mesdames Hchy,; lurkcaldie, Evans, Gordon,. Ponsbri'oy," Glasson,/and Miss Brov,-n.~ : The secretary reported that ,a number of Cases of. neglect, and cruelty were being dealt with,- that- one case was to- bo settled in court, and- one maintenance case had been satisfactorily settled, while another case,' in which •it was' desired to secure maintenance for. a .mother,- was being arranged satisfactorily,... 'Miss Hilda Moorhouse has returned from.a visit to friends in Canterbury and is now .staying with Mrs./ Rhodes, the Grange. ' Miss Violet'Warburton Returns to Wellington after Easter, and will bsgin her dancing classes early in April. - Mrs. Izett, of'JVanganui, who has been •visiting her sistero-Mrsr bcrtson, in Invercargill, is now the guest of Mrs. C. Izard. Mrs. Glasson and', her two daughters who have-been visiting friends in Wellin"ton, left for: Sydney by the -Moana yesterday. ■
: Miss. Helmore, of Christchurch, who is ,on her. way: to England, was a passenger 1 "by-the-Moana .yesterday afternoon. Mr.-and Mrs. Avery, of Kelburne, are leaving for Napier, where they' intend to live for several years.
