TALISMAN. -MINE DEVELOPMENTS. . With '"reference' io' 'the. himour thhtthore has - been '- an- important development iu the Talisman mine,-the local directors received the following reply yesterday afternoon from Mr. btansheld, in response to tueir inquiry:— "Thirty inches fair grade ore exposed yesterday (Thursday) .in north drivo 'olf jtfo. 4 crosscut; too early yet to say very much about it." Tho No. 4 . crosscut is a crosscut out west from tho main -reef .at tlie south end of. the Bonanza section of the mine, No. 13 lovgl. About three weeks bagk, when 84 feet out from the main reef, - it intersected a new reef about three feet wide, wliich gave poor values. Mr. Sfcansfield has driven north on this reef. For the first or'four shoots the values did not improve, but, apparently, they are now beginning to make. The present position may be the precursor of an important development, as, further back on the j main reef, high values were -met with, : and, aB this north drive on the new reef ; gets opposite where high values were met ; with in the main reef, the same thing may occur in this new parallel body. ■ I ' . : DEEDGING. . 1 (By. ' MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Old Alburnia.—Owing to an influx of water from overhead, progress in the rise has been slow. After a stoppage of three days, rising was resumed in tie rise. The reef 1b now two feet wide, a compact body of nice looking quartz in fairly good country for gold. In the drive the reef looks well, and is now 30in. in width. Italiance.—Tho hangingwall is very firm, and is a splendid class of sandstone country, with black minoral veins running through it. A hole was bored six feet into the hangingwall, with no signs of Quartz. Golden Pah—Work in the winzo was stopped on account of it being flooded by the heavy rains. In the drive M'Donald's leader is about 2in. wide, and looks well, some colours of gold being seen. In No. 2 stope the leader is 4 to 6in. wide, and looks promising. Colours of gold were seen when breaking down in the stones. Kuranui.—ln Blyth's level, Eureka section, the'leader is 9in. wide, and'carries mineralised stone; but 'no gold has been seen. Tho shaft leader is now the full width of tho drive. ..A hard flinty seam is dividing the hangingwall, and a dropper from the main body is striking direct into the footwall. The south leader is & good country, and has splendid walls.
