' . 4 The . Johnsonville . School . Committee wrote objecting to the council's proposal : to locate a pound near the .school. It was .submitted that the proximity of the site to the school would endanger the health' of children, and spoil a small stream of water which the committee wished to use for .a swimming bath. ■ . The chairman (who, as secretary- of the School Committee had written tha letter) submitted a draft reply, • stating that the pound would not affect'' the health of the school children. The place was behind. a bill, out of sight of the school, and 300 yards distant. _ No water-. course would be polluted, but if the committee feared any such danger, the water for the swimming bath could be drawn , at little extra cost from a point" above the pound. _ The council decided to send the letter drafted by the chairman.- ; : A plan showing the proposed adjustment of boundaries was submitted J* the Johnsonville Town Board. The alterations would. increase the area of the country, but the town district -would gain some sections near the centre of the township. I Councillor / Eastwood strongly objected to the scheme. It was resolved that the plan, as submitted, bs accepted, provided that Section 92 ba included in the county, and that the. County Council have the right to quarry ' road-metal at the place ■ known 'as the Ngahauranga quarry, at the head of tha Ngahauranga Gorge. The . two councillors who attended the sitting of the Assessment Court in connection with the adjustment of interests with the Hutt County, were granted one guinea each for expenses. The same allowance was made to the four councillors who attended the last meeting of tha Hutt County Council. Accounts amounting to £276 IBs. lid. were passed for payment.
