IMPROVED DREADNOUGHT. By Telecraph—Press Association—CoDrrlcht Berlin, March 10. The Kaiser, accompanied by Prince Henry of Prussia and several admirals, inspected the fiith German Dreadnought, tho Helgoland (an improved type which is to carry twelve 12-inch guns). Sho has started on a cruise with captains of industry and financo aboard. [The Helgoland is the fifth German Dreadnought, and, as Germany builds in batches of four, is regarded as beginning an improved type, just as tho ninth German Dreadnought (the Ersatz Heimdall) will probably make the first of a. further improved type. The Helgoland has been very rapidly built. This great battleship of not less than 19,500 tonssome accounts soy 21,000 to 23,000 tonsonly occupied nine months from laying down to launching. According to tho test-books, she is to be completed in March, 1911; but already she is sufficiently advanced 1 -to take the captains of try and finance for a. cruise." He declared the time was coming when Britain and Germany would unite to withstand the competition of America in trade.
