DERAILED TRAIN. STOPPED ON BRINK OF A 50 FEET CHASM. By Telecraph— Press' Melbourne, March 10. A , narrow' escape froro disaster is reported. A passenger train travelling at night between the Clifton Hill and Merri Stations had just left the former' station and was approaching an iron bridge, without a coping, which spans" a chasm fifty feet deep,. when the driver felt a thump and stopped the train. It was. then found chat the leading wheeb of the engine had left the rails, and iwere within, eighteen inches of the edge of the bridge' when thi train stopped. „.,_.,.. .'..._,.
