PEARY'S POLE.
SCEPTICAL LAWMAKERS IN HIS OWN COUNTRY. NO HONOUti TILL PROOF. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyriirht. (Rec. March 10', 11.15 p.m.) New York, March 10. A sub-committee of the House of Representatives decided against honouring Commander Peary until he submits proof that ho reached the North Pole. Members of the sub-committee que'siioned the accuracy of Commander Peary's statement that his marches averaged 2G. miles daily from the time he left Captain Bartlett till he reached the Pole, arid that they averaged 44 miles' daily from' the Pole until he rejoined Captain Bartlett. As against this, it is pointed out that the greatest speed made before leaving Bartlett, and after rejoining . him, was nine miles daily.
