MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the committee- of tho Palmerston . branch o£ the .Farniors' .Union..was held on Saturday, 'wheh , there were present: Messrs. J. Balsillie (chairman), L. It. Bryant, Captain Hewitt, A. Farmer, P. Haule, A. Buchanan, J. Wingate, and TV. Stubby.. . Mr. F.'.D! Opie, Director of the Technical School,-was present to consider the proposal from Mr. M'Naught to givo a series of lectures on wool-classing, otc. k to.'the various branches' of the union in this province. ■Mr.'-Op'io thought the proposal an excellent one, and olfered to ; jive, every assistance. It was. eventually decided to make an offer to the Technical School Committee to arrange for lectures by Mr. 11' Naught, tho- branch to .pay cost- of same, lectures to be- given at the' Technical School and the wool-classing pupils-of the school l>2 allowed to attend the lectures free..

Mr. A.. Buchanan and: Captain Hewitt were appointed the Technical School Committee for the lectures.

Mr. Stu-bhs .mentioned the experiments, that were be.ing carried out at,the hospital grounds, and Mr. Balsillie also re-oiurred-to his experiments at Kairanga. three acres of turnips, and an. -. aore.jof lucerne. The former was excellent'Vfor looping up the supply of milk in.Mry seasons. :■. . Mr. A.. Buchanan endorsed , Mr. Balsillie's remarks, and said he had grown maize,for-Jiajs for cutting.while green.
