Ministers of the Crown orrt of torn to> day are the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) and the Hon. J. Carroll, who are at Te Aroha; the Hon. G. Fowlds, Mount Cook; the Hon. D. Buddo, Rangiora; and the Hon. T. Mackenzie, who is at Christohurch. Mr. C. Crawford, Mayor of Hiramar, has been asked to contest the Wellington City Mayoralty. Mr. Crawford, whoso experience of. municipal affairs has extended over a number of years, has promised to consider the matter. His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Captain Shannon, A.D.C., win leave for the south shortly to visit several places in Canterbury and North Otago. Thereafter he will proceed : to the West Coast, via Otira Gorge, to pay a farewell visit to Eeefton, Greymouth, Westport, Hokitika, and Boss. His Excellency is due back in Wellington, on March 13. A. Press Association message states that a project is being mooted for entertainment of Lord .Plunket, at a banquet by the citizens of Dnnedin, on the occasion of his Excellency's farewell visit-to that oity. The Hon. Dr. iindlay, who accompanied his Excellency tho Governor to Napier on Wednesday, returned to town last night. Mr. E. J. Hyams, Wellington, who has been on a visit to Australia for the past month, -has just received the appoint- . ment as New Zealand resident agent fot the Pathe Freres Moving Pictures. Mr. A. W. Rutherford, ex-member for Hurunui, was a passenger for Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Messrs. A. Paterson, A. J. Luke, and J. L. Short were yesterday admitted by ffie Chief Justice, Sir Robert Stout, to practise as solicitors of the Supreme Court...Mr. D. S. Smith was admitted as a barrister. . .

Fiji contains many ex-soldiers from South Africa (mostly. Now Zealanders), and a plan is afoot to round the boys up to meet Lbrd Kitchener on his arrival there from Auckland (states the Suva correspondent of the "New Zealand Herald"). The following are a few of the veterans in Fiji:—Captain T. Garland Matthews, Thorneycroffs M.1.; Captain Keppell, Ninth N.Z.R.M.1.; Bugler 'Dunn, Dublin Fusiliers; Lieutenant W. A. Hickson, of ' the Tenth and Sergeant of the Fourth N.Z.RJL; Trooper Bell, of Kitchener's Horso; Mr. Moggridge, of the Imperial Light Horse; Mr. Hadfield, of the First New South Wales Bushmen; Mr. T. Dale-Tavlor, Ninth N.Z.M.R.; Mr. —. Webster, Ninth N.Z.M.R.; Mr. T. Molloy, Eighth N.Z.M.R.; Mr. J. Patterson, N.Z. Contingent; Mr. G. Christy, of the Secori 1 . Canadian M.R.; Mr. Burns, now in the C.S.R. Company; and many others.

Count Bismarck, who arrived in Wellington yesterday with Mr. C. A. Weber, is a grand-nephew of the late Prince Bismarck. He is touring the Dominion on a pleasure trip, New Zealand having been, till. now, ono of the few resorts in the world which ho and Mr. Weber had not visited. On Monday the Count and Mr. Weber will leave "for Rotorua and Auckland, via Wanganui River. Afterwards they will return to Wellington, and leave here for Sydney on their.way to the X'ar East. Captain Simpson, who arrived from San Francisco bv the Hauroto on Tuesday, left for Sydney by tho Mooraki yesterday. Captain Falconer, and Mrs. Falconer, of Blenheim, were passengers by the Mocrald. which left for Sydney last evening. Dr. T. Gilray was a passenger for Lyttelton by the Maori last night. Miss Vallanco, and Miss Bennott, of Masterton, have booked passages for London by the lonic, which leaves on Auril 2i.
