METHODIST CONFERENCE.

(By Telegraph—Press AseociatkmJ Dunedin, March 1 At the Methodist Conference the Hew,' It. Hudson was unanimously appointee editor of the proposed new connexions! organ.

Considerable discussion ensued when the report of the theological institution was before the conference. The present housing arrangement of the students waj deemed unsatisfactory, as it involved residence whore there were other \ hoardera and where due oversight was impo& sible. On the motion of the Bev. W, Sinclair, convenor of the conference com. mittee, it was unanimously resolved "thai with a view 'to securing continuous supervision and conditions most favourable for their training our theological students he housed in a building not shared by other lodgers, and that a minister of the conference be set apart to take charge. A speciar committee was sat up to consider the resolution and report to the conference at a later stage. When the Wesley College fThree Kings) report was before the conference, the deepest sympathy was expressed with the principal (the Bev. J. H. Simmonds) in his indisposition, and the arrangements made to facilitate' several months' leave of absence. were endorsed. The committee was urged to prepare a scheme for tho augmentation of funds in' order ta effect- the speedy erection of a new college and submit the same to the next conference.

Tho Rev. W. J. Williams presented tha report of the Bible Class movement. It contained a general review of the work done during the five years of its existence. This showed that excellent wort had been done throughout the Dominion.. The financial report was the unsatisfactory feature. Owing to this alone it wai resolved to discontinue the office of organising secretary for the present. This was done with many expressions of regret. The hope was encouraged that the work of organisation among the young would continue to be carried on: in the various circuits by local arrangements. A well-attended home and foreign missionary meeting was held in tho evening over which the Rev. J. N. Buttle presided. Addresses were delivered bv tho Eev. T. G. Brooke and W. Slade.
