Miss Lilian Guy, % who for years was' of great service to the Apiti Wesley Church, has been made the recipient of a hand-somely-bound index Bible on, the eve of her departure for Palmerston, where sho intends following the profession of teaching. •"'■.•■ The dry weather is responsible for numerous complaints regarding the shortage of water in the Apiti district, and tho milk yield has naturally been affected. The final purchaser was Mr. ! . G. Forlong, whose bid was 2SJ guineas, the total amount realised being 260 12s. 6d. The auctioneers (Messrs. Gorton and Son, Ltd.) generously declined to take any commission for conducting the sale. Tho buyer, in the order of purchase, were:—Messrs. E." Short, 3gns.; W. E.
