It is now- stated that the Navy Estimates for the year 1910-11 will total forty-one millions. The supplementary estimates include ,£15,700 for preliminary work on the four contingent Dreadnoughts which are to bo laid down on April 1.

, The supplementary estimates were agreed to after a short discussion between Mr. A. H. Leo (formerly Unionist Civil Lord of the Admiralty), Admiral Lord Chas. Beresford (Unionist M.P. for Portsmouth), and the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. MTvenna. BIG SHIPS WANTED. THE CANADIAN SQUADRON. (Rec. An influential deputation waited on the Premier of Ontario, Sir J. P. Whitney, and requested him .to take action in the Ontario Assembly to induce Sir Wilfrid Laurier to add to the naval proposals two or three Dreadnoughts,, to be provided in. the first instance. The object of the proposal is to cemont the Canadian squadron into a properly proportioned fleet unit. ; '

Sir J. P. Whitney promised to earnestly consider the. request. Deputations are similarly approaching all the Provincial Legislatures of Canada. ' [Each of the three fleet units provided for under, the Defence Conference scheme —East Indies, China Seas, and Australian —will consist of one Dreadnought-cruiser, three second-class cruisers, six river destroyers, and three submarines.]
