BLACKMAIL BILLS.
HOW NEW YORK LAWMAKERS RAISE FUNDS. A CHARGE AGAINST A SENATOR. ALLEGED BRIBE. By Teleerajjli-Preas Aasociation-OoDyrieht New York, February 28. A sensational trial is proceeding. Mr. Jotham P. Allds, a leading Republican of New York .State, and a member of the state Senate, is accused of receiving a bribe in 1301, from Senator Conger, of the American Bridge Company. It is affirmed that Bills regulating tramways, telephones, and railways, are frequently introduced by members of the State Legislature in order to blackmail owners involved, and that Mr! Congers companies maintain special corruption funds, out of which to bribe legislators in dealing'with such Bills.
