At the local race meeting last Saturday, -■ Sid. Reid,, jockey, had his collarbone '• broken owing to Whakahe falling in-the--: Maiden Race. All the local creeks were • flooded. The road between Shannon and '. Makerua' was a sheet nf water, which in ' places poured over the railway line.
