FIRE ALARMS.
■♦ EXTENSION OP THE CIRCUITS. With a view of perfecting the firo alarm . system, the ■ electrical staff of the City (Jouncil is at present engaged in carrying out a number of suggestions put forward by the Fire Brigade Superintendent (Mr. O'Brien). The extension? have necessitated a number of alterations in the old circuits, and involve considerable amount of dolicate work, as the immediate use of the alarms must not be interfered with. The extensions include seven new points at Kilbirnie, three at Island liny, throe at Kclburnc. and one each at Talavcra Terrace, Wesley Koad, Nairn Street, Aro Street, aud .Maarama Crescent. In addition, it is proposed to make extensions", at Brooklyn. The wiring at Kilbirnie and Island Bay has been completed, and all that remains to finish the work there is the .erection of the alarm boxes, which will probably arrive,this week. The alterations to the Taranaki Street and Tory Street circuits have also been completed.
