PALMERSTON DAY BY DAY.
. CADETS' CAMP. EXPERIENCE. ■ ' PARENTS INDIGNANT. (From Our Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, February 2G. The Mayor, Jin"J. A.'Nash, will call a meeting of old settlers in the course of a few days, the object' being to form an Old Settlers' Association. The central idea is to hold an annual reunion, say, on the Palmerston sports ground.'" It will be necessary, of course, to fix a residential time limit for members. * The Palmerston contingent of cadets and scouts arrived home at 2.30 this afternoon, after being on tho train since 7.30 this morning. Many of them had a very woebegone appearance, this being probably chiefly due to hunger, the" young soldiers not having had anything, to eat 6ince early morning: This, coupled ' with the fact-that the majority were wet through, caused some parents to give vent to their feelings in a forcible way.' The-'congregation of -St. Andrew's Church will hold a meeting next Monday to take steps to fill tile vacancy caused by the call of the Kev. I. Jolly to Auckland.
Some time back your correspondent reported that a good deal of-petty thieving was going oil.in .this town, more especially as regards bikes, poultry, etc. As reported by., the. Press Association, the police have now effected an arrest of a man who will bo required to answer several charges. Mr/ M. Cohen has given the following notice of motion for the annual meetin" ox the.
