Rather an unusual eventhappened lately to' a;i Australian 1 lady who owns a pot magpie. She was sewing quietly in her house one. afternoon', and: suddenly the scent of something burning ' arose. She, ran through tho ' house, and discovered that her.dog's cushion' was smouldering. Having put the cushion into a tub, she noticed that her magpio was hopping busily about, and. making a great squawking. She-went to see what.was wrong, and discovered Maggio had found a box of wax matches, opened, and sot them alight, with , her bill,, and' was busy dragging tho flaming mass . about' any-where-tliat pleased'her!
