MASTERTON RAM FAIR.

.. Masterton, February 18. Messrs. Dalgety and. Co., Ltd., report as follows:—The': annual fixture i 'was brought to a close on Thursday, when, stud and- flock Lincoln ■ and Leicester:; rams wore offered. The attendance; of. the public was again good, and a sound tone': prevailed right - through the fair, whilst; Lincoln sheep were .being , offered. Before the sale started the general opinion was: 'that Lincolns would not. meet with too ready a>sale. At the commencement business dragged but as the sale progressed ■ buyers, livened up, and: after a few pens of good sheep had come forward bidding became spirited and in a great number of instanoes were altogether- in favour of sellers.. On the whole the condition and quality of the Lincoln .rams, offered was not Tip ■to the standard'' of last year. This no doubt was owing to a number ■ of: breeders having ,sold the pick -. of their ; rams privately, and, further; a number of Wairarapabred.'rams ,have«been'disposed of at 1 theearlier fairs. Most of the leading NorthIsland- breeders had sheep entered, and at the close of the-sale very few . rams were turned out unsold.
