After ten o'clock, accused created a. dis-. turbance at .the Empire Hotel, and" as-' saulted one .of the stewards. Sergeant Kelly had to' bo called in toarrest him.; .. r-, ... . The magistrate said', that the penalty; for' such misdemeanours must .be paid. Tho .fines would: be:. 205.. (or seven days) on the first charge; 40s. (or seven days) on the-'second; 20s. Having 1 pleaded guilty to, a charge of theft df-.a cash-box,-money, an.d jewollery from : Cavl Larsen, mate, of the- Gertie (on; which: he also. was employed), accused was fined 205., and ordered to refund the' 3Ss. which ho had stolen. : Chief.-Detective Broberg. remarked that: accused had been before the Court onca . previously, having bfeen lined J!2;-for-play--ingY.
