BRIDGE PROPOSALS.

Borough Council and the Wanganm: East Borough Council, to consider, a proposal' to erect a second traffic: bridge over the Wanganui River. ' Tho ".'question was discussed at length-in committee: and! on resuming, it was : reported that the conference had resulted an the'unanimous: acceptance of the following .terms as a basis of a mutual agreement:— • '.'•;■■•:'■
"That' the question of -site'be left open; that if the' Dublin: Street site'be eventually selected, the. borough of' Walvgnnui share -equally with 'tho borouWi ;0,. Wanganui East in the cost of erection; that if Plymouth Street silo be selected, the borough of AVnnganui. contribute towards the cost of erection in the:' propor-' tion of £3 la£i conlribufcd-by the borough of .Wangahu!.';Ea6t;:'that:'a tramtrack bo:laid. over, the bridge at tho same time, to be paid for as part of the bridge; that_ the preparation of tho banks and of the bed.of the river be also included in the cost of tho bridge; that tho tram service be .extended 1 , at least one" m'ilo in Wanganui East, at the .expense' of' the latter council;, and that an adequate service .be run on- the sanie.terms, as were offered to Gonville—viz.,: 91d., per' . car mile; that all, the:above terms are con. ditional' on the- approval of the ratepayers of both.boroughs. ,■'..,,.
