Mr. Charlton, after retiring, later returned to the Court, and stated that: the Delegate Board had met . and had resolved that h© should again renew the application lor an adjournment. -They realised the necessity of-air early settlement, and though they.could give no guarantee, ; he was fully prepared to say that if the request were granted it would bring about the resumption of work at a -very onrly date.- Tho Delegate Board, also, desired him'to" ask Judge Scholes, President of the Wages 'Boar'', w>>«ther he wmld seo
his way, in hi 3 capacity as a citizen, to meet the miners' representatives. It was their desire to bring about a settlement. : Two Reasons for Adjournment, Judge Scholes said ho considered Mr. Chariton must havo strong reasons for .pressing for an adjournment. Ho therefore granted it, for two reasons: Firstly, tho hope that the men would submit their case to the Wages Board; secondly, the prospect of a settlement as soon- as possible. The Judge also agreed to the .request, to meet .the miners' rcpresenta-' tivos. The sitting of the Wages Board was then adjourned till Wednesday next. . Judgo Scholes proceeded to the Trades Hall to confer with tho Miners' Advisory Board. BALLOT AS TO RESUMPTION. BY THE SOUTHERN'' MINERS. .; (Rec. February 10, .9.5 p*) Sydney, February 10. !
