Evidence showed that 'deceased, , .who'if as bathing with a younger .brother, and another lad named Kirkwoo'd, .irent.'but a long.'distance in;.'the- shallow water, iand then apparently stumbled and wont under, ; Ah alarm wasj. raised,, and Mi-. F. Hunt, who was undressing at the bathing-shed, came to thq rescue, with, a number' of -.men.'■ from Eassori'si sawmill. Mr. Hunt dashed : into the - water,, and found the body' floating in-sft.;'pf 'water, and brought it ashore. The-?lad.showed some signs of life when lie reached the shore, and was able to swallow'a. spoonful of.**brandy,' but he never.'.regained consciousness, despite the'restoratives and-ar-tifioial * respiration applied by Nurse Everitt, of' Kilbirnie; and '■ the' efforts of Dr. Cameron with an . electric battery. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned. The deceased lad's parents reside at No. 39 Eintoul Street. .... ;■; '
