Receipts since last meeting were reported at £1216 : 155.. 7di, and .accounts amounting to .£2103 95. : 10d. were passed for payment. Application. was received from Mrs. Palmer, Messrs. S. Dalgleish, J.A.jriean, and A.C. Garwith, to have their situated in the Mahupuku settlement wholly included in the ; Wairarapa South County: . At present they were partly in the Wairarapa South County and partly' in the Featherston County. The,, council, considered this course advisable, which would mean that throe of i tho properties would be'in this ■county and one in Featherston County. ; ■It;' however,'.requires;.the Featherston" ■ County's consent to alter the; boundaries, ' and' difficulty is apprehended in the matter.,.. . The: Wellington Farmers' Meat Company forwarded the water-race agreements duly signed and completed,' together :ivith cheque to.cover expenses.. It_was decided- that the agreement. Tae ratified, and that Councillors Perry and Moore.attach,the seal.of the council/to same. It was decided -that on receipt of the Health Officer's approval, the council would consider the" application of W. H. Long, Masterton,, for permission to erect a digester in .the county. It was resolved to replace.a culvert on Moreton Boad with 24-inch pipes. .■Alternate. tenders'are. to be invited for ■.metalling/' on . Gladstone. Eoad from Oliver's, corner, to Booth's Creek, for delivery, from the creek or from. the. river'. ■ .Repairs to the. water-table' on Belvedere. Bockett met with,a nasty accident a few days ago.: Returning .on horseback from a picnic, he was crossing a' bridgo.-near Mr. Duncan's when his horse, owing to the slippery nature of , the boards/ skidded, coming down 'on iis side:' i and throwing its rider, who had his foot somewhat crushed. Indeed, Mr. Bockett had a very narrow escape from a more serious accident. -Why those whose duty it is to look after the roads n ? ot ., haTO ,.N;° s ? wooden bridges snivelled, it, is difficult to say. . • ;./.-. ; . SHANNON. • . The Shannon school reopened on Monday after the , Christmas holidays. .The funeral of the late Mrs. E. Law; whose, sudden and 'unexpected death on I'riday night has east a gloom over the district, took place on Sunday afternoon, and,, in spite of tho rain, which fell almost continuously.'during the day, it was one. of the. most representative funerals , remembered in ■ Shannon for a very long tinie. Tho Druids, of whom Mr. E. Law is a prominent member, attended .in regalia, and mourners camo from Levin, Tokomaru, Moutoa, and' the surrounding districts. The .. Rev..
