Further particulars -in ■'. regard >to the' fare at ' Kaitaugata. yesterday morning show that.the'outbreak Ibrigiiroted in Mr. Hislop's -•; bakery,- v- but -its cause is: uhtnown. It had a strong' hold when discovered, and as nothing could 'bo done to .check it, .it .spread rapidly-to the adjoining buildings. ■ So far as is known, it seeuis that most of tho.property destroyed is covered by insurance. Mr., Hislop's bakery is owned-: by.. Miss M'Corley (Balclutha), and is insured. for :£M in-the Norwich Union office.; Mr. : Hislop has the contents of his shop insurod .with tho London, Lancashire, and Globe Company, f0r;.,£100., ilr.'-: Armishaw's furniture is insured in tho United Company for .£lso:;Messrs.' G. arid D..Middleman's building and contents are insured for in. the. United Company. '. The building which,was occupied; by Messrs. Myers and Jaryies : _ was -owned by.'; Mrs. 1.-W-. .H. M'Kenzie, and was ■ insured in tho Now Zealand office for. , j£lso. Mr. Jaiyies's property .was hot insured, but Mr. -Myers had i£.150..;6n his etock' in 'the National office. Tho building occupied- by JUr; ; W. Paterson was also -owned >. by Mi's. , M'Konzie, and was insured in the' South British office for .£125, and Mr.- Patovson's stock was insured with '■ the Australian Alliance for .£250.: Mr.\ D. ; Stewart owned the corner building, which wns occupied by himself and the National Bank, and it was insured in the Norwich Union, for .COO. 'The total damage is' estimated at about J32500. The following are : the losses estimated to have : been sustained by difforout owners, over and above the insurances:—Hislop, .£150; Armishaw, ,£3O; Middlemass, JJ2SO; Jarvies,' JE3II; Myers, .£SO; Paterson,. ,£80; and Mrs. ~M'Konzie, .£IOO..
