t !V MEETING' OP. THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. A meeting of tho Wellington Centre of the . New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held -last evening. ' Mr. W. Coffey was in.tho chair, and there were twelve' members present.. ' Mr. J.,H. .Pollock,', president of the ■Wellington - Amateur Athletio Club; waited on tho centre to point out that two sports meetings were fixed for March at Petone (Petone Athletio Club) and one' at the' Basin: Eescrve (Wellington Amateur. Athletio Club). He pointed out that a clashing of dates was likely to ■■ be disastrous to amateur. athletics in the ' city,-and especially , to the younger club at Petone. Ho suggested; that kimo arrangement should be come to between the clubs.' On the matter being discussed it was decided' that the , two clubs interested hold ;a. conference: on tho question and ,report to the Wellington Centre. The Hawera Amateur Athletio Club was affiliated to tho centre. • ::

Tho New' Zealand Athletic Association wrote to the centre'• asking for an expression'Of opinion on tho question of making a lovy on tho clubs to .form the nucleus of a fund to pay the expenses ol New Zealand-representatives who-may be selected to compete at the next- Olympic Gaines. l After a : desultory y; discussion Mr. .Tones moved, and Mr.Bridge - seconded, "That: the: con tro send a circular .to all affiliated: -clubs . their, 1 opiri-' ion on the point."
