GYMKHANA.
Tho gymkhaua which was organised by the Church of England Men's . Society, St. Augustine's branch, Petone, on/Anniversary Pay, was very successul. A large crowd assembled on- the Petono Bocrea-. tion Ground, eclipsing all attendances that have been present at.like entertainments.' Apart from the sports, very good business was , done at the various stalls, controlled by Mosdames .Marsden,- Noill, , Harrison: and Lee; Misses Sherwin- (2), House, Kirk; Keir. I&ote,. Tanriy, Sebly; Bale, Heron,'UoodriekV Andrews, - Berstein. and Marsden; The sporting events, which :were arranged and supervised by Messrs.E. G. House(secretary), F. Lee, and the Eev. J. D. Eussqll, wore keenly contested. .The committee, in departing from the .old-time indoor concert to that of an open-air ovent, were justified'. by results. Some two . hundred people gathered Tound the rotunda at 80 clock, and were 'delighted''with the programme • presented. Items;w'oro rendered by: Miss ICibbleVhitc, Messrs.
