GREYTOWN. Lfent-Commander Mr. ■ Hector H. STLeod, 6econd in command of the Korth Island Boy Scoots movement, made his first official visit to Graytown on Friday evening last. The boys paraded at the station under Scoutmaster Shanloy, and the Eov.'Mr. Page (chaplain) was also present. A meeting of, the Excratrvo Committco was held in Mr. llaiton'f office, the following members being pro sent: Eev. Mr. Pago (in the chair), Scoab master Shanley, Scout leader Fairbrothef (of Carte.-tou), and Messrs. M. Maxton, E. 0. Turner, and T. M'Cracfaan. It was resolved, after a short discussion, only' to consent to como partially under military control. It was also decided to re. commend that tho limit of age be altered from 10 to 11 years, and from 16 to 18 years. A district committee was formed for the South Wairarapa, and two members were elected, both from; C&Tterton. (Sreytown, Fcatherston, and Martinborough are to be asked to. nominate taro each. After tho business had been, finished, an adjournment was made to > tho Scouts 1 - where■ a, "social**< was hold, and Mr. ITLeod, after being introduced to those present by the chairman (Mr.; Pago), explained' the benefit of tho Scout movement, and stated that he was very much pleased at having the opportunity to bo with such a fine troop of Scouts. During the evening several of tho Scouts were presented, with secondclass badges. The boys were also oaagratulated on their general proficiency by Lieut-Colonel Tate, and, at the conda-' sion of a very enjoyableevening, they gave * the Scouts' "war-cry" in good reusing style. Mr. MTOeod left for Masterton bj"' Saturday morning's train.

Tho monthly meeting of Levin School Committee was hold on Friday evening. Present: Messre. C. Palmer (actingchairman), G. Cameron, J. Davison, I. Hook, S. Fall, C. E. Shaw, J. Hooper, and J.. Bobortson (secretary). The chairman., welcomed Mr. ShaW) who toot, his seat as a member for the first time, vice Mr. J. W. ,Wood, resigned. Mr. Shasr thanked the committee for electing hi™ f to .the vacant position, and also the chairman "for his kind words of welcome, fla'addod that he would endeavour, fe do his best for the school. Mr. Hook was .asked - to. arrange for a few loads of gravel to be'placed on tho south side'of the infant school, which Is something ax a quagmire in wet weather. It was decided to arrange for a picnic for the school children towards the end of iFebruary, and \ members undertook to collect subscriptions to meet expenses connected therewith.'
