The Mayor •intimated.' that a draft amendment ito; the Building By-Laws, with reference ■'■ .to ' the "Brick Area" would be submitted for the-council's consideration -at the next meeting. '- r . • ■ It was decided to appoint Councillor Harding, to represent, the .borough /.at :a conference ■ of local bodies concerned in the future: administration of the affairs of the Taita' Cemetery Board, with the object of!■ arriving at a working agreer mention, the .question of control; any agreement- arrived - at. is to be V ■ subsequently referred to the respective councils for approval. ■'. ;■ .; ■-.-. - The - matter of the proposed amalgamation , of .the; -HutK and Petone boroughs was : briefly. discussed, following upon a letter from' the Sntt Borough Council, suggesting that a,joint conference of the two /councils bo held. On the motion of : the. Mayor, it was resolved that notice be-served upon those interested in the iludgway 1 Estate to see that no removals of portions of the i council's stopbank were, allowed'.to take.place,' and to take steps-to secure the co-opera-tion of the Hutt. Kiver Board in; the matter. The, stopbank referred to is a prolongation of that controlled by the River Board,- constructed by the council to protect that part of the borough which includes the Mudgway Estate.: The syndicate controlling that estate is now seeking authority /to remove a portion of the bank. • .■:■'"■' --■; ■"':.- ■';':'- ..-.
