Pilraerston Weddings. 'A double wedding was solemnised at All Saintr Church, Palmerston, on Wednes«ay afternoon, when the Misses J. S and A. S. Sexton, daughters ot Mrs M Sexton, were married Miss J S Sexton was married to Mr. C. S. W. Trask, of Taihape Miss C. Sexton and httlo Miss Marion Shand were bridesmaids, and Mr. A. Barker' best mdn. Miss K. S Sexton Jas married to Mr W H Follas, of Palmerßtpn, Miss Mary Soxton' and little Miss Edna Gardiner attended as her bridesmaids,' and Mr. Gus Follas was best - ' J? 841- ,E ooht h brides were'given away by their brother, Mr D Setton, and they wore pretty frocks of cream chiffon taffetas, with bridal wreaths and veils i They and the chief bridesmaids earned Bhower bouquets, and tho smaller maids ' earned baskets of flowers After the vedthng a large number of guests were entertained at Miss Wilson's tea-rooms On Wednesday, at St. Church, the Bev. I. Jolly officiating, Miss Alice Hammer, youngest daughter of Mrs. Hammer, of Palmerston, was married to Mr. John Arthur Beattie, only son of the late Mrs E. J. Beattie, of Palmereton. The bride was given away by her brother, F. Hammer. Miss Maude JBeattie was bridesmaid, and Mr. T WarJ txsst man. Tho newly-mamej couple are spending their honeymoon in Wellington. At St. Andrew's Church, on the same flay, the Eev. I. Jolly also celebrated tho marriage of Mr. W. Eoberts, of Wauoa, ' Eawke s Bay, to Miss Jane Buchanan, of Palmerston North. The Girls , Realm Guild. The Garls' Eealm Guild bazaar, which *as opened m the Opera House, Covont (Garden,' by the Duchess of Connaught, mroved to be a great' success Dunne E'S opening ceremony, Mies Martha ■ugemann, a young Australian, who is mg trained by the guild, sang a verso »f 'Hiod Save the King" The tableaux /were arranged by such experts as Mr iSolomon J Solomon,'Mr Cayley Eobinjson, Mr. J. H. Bacon, and Mrs E M. rWard. Apart from the tableaux, the (most attractive "side-show" was given !by the versatile Lady Conrtance Stewart •Sichaxdson, who danced—a la Mand AlPan. It will be'remembered that Lady ' Constance recently'caused some sensation an America when-she-gave her-classio* 1 dances at a chanty performance in New Bbrk.' By the last English mail Miss Effie loung, secretary of the Kia Ora branch 'of the Girls' Eealm Guild, received^an interesting account of the bazaar from some of her guild fn<mH s m England, Trhioh ,ahe kindly allows "Dominica" to ' jrabbsh. Tho bazaar, they say, was a vonderM success, and the stalls presided ' over, by picturesque stall-holdere •ere visited Dy an eager throng In fact, so dense was the crowd that it teemed impossible to do much selling, to it was arranged to hare an extra exi iibifaon and rale of goods at tho Austral > dub, a little later on. Aβ is well known ,i eaeh stall represented a different artist, end the grouping and colour scheme was 1 co admirably earned out that it seemed as if the figures hadi stepped out from i >their frames. At the "George Boughton" stall "were to be bought autographed books by the Bishop of London, Graham i Trarars, Mrs. Baillro Eeynolds, Mrs i Humphrey Ward, Anthony Hope"; and xoany others.
