MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tho Miramar Borough Council wet last night. Frosent: The Mayor (Mr. 0." J. Crawford), Councillors Brodie, Muir, Bowio, and Bell. The council agreed to renew for threo years tho contract with the Postal Department for the conveyance of mails and post and telegraph (Officials on tho tramways within the borough. St. James's Presbytorian Church was granted the use of Soatonn Pari: for" tho hrst Saturday in February. The Mayor was appointed as a delegate to the conference lor fixing the day of tho weekly half-holiday. The conference will bo hold at tho Town Hall on January 2G, at 3 p.m. Edward Wall was granted permission 'to erect a davit on Worser Bay beach. The Secretary to the Treasury wrote, under dato December 11, that tho full amount authorised for loans to local bodies during the current "financial year had Doeh allocated, and ho therefore suggested that the council should defer its application for a loan until tho ,Stato Guaranteed Advances Bill ' had been passed. The Bill having now been passed tho council decided to apply for the drainage, water, and sanitation loan. Tho town clerk was given authority to suo for outstanding rates. ~ It was resolvfid, on tho motion of Councillor, Muir, to obtain particulars as to the relative cost of Osram lamps and arc lampii for tramway track lighting. It was agreed to spend Xl'lß on improvements at the southern end of tho Seatouu Heights Road.
Accounts! for payment out iif the District Fund Account were auihorisod to tho amount of ,£224 15s. A benk balance of JCBSO 10s. Bd. was reported. Tho council then went into committee.
