LAST YEAB'S TOTALS BEATEN. , The Tramway Department has reason to be satisfied with the result of its Christmas and New, Year holiday services, in spite of the unseasonable weather sandwiched in between tho holidays. "" An oxacl comparison between this year's and last year's takings cannot ,bo made, as a largo number oi concession" tickets' are now in use, and have been used throughout the holidays, which aro not accounted for m this year's figures. Even without these, however, tho holidays which have just ended, taking from Christmas Evo up to and including January 3, show an actual advance ot JS96 in cash taken over the iigures for Christmas and Now Year twolvo months ago, Tho takings for tho eleven days from December 2i, 1909, to January 3, 1910, amounted to £i%7, as against .£4571 for the same period last year. The highest takings wore: Christmas Evo -£635, Boxing Day JC6S3, and Now Year's Day ,£C23, whilst tho highest day's receipts during tho previous year were .£6lO on Christmas Eve, and .£s9(i on Boxing Day. Last Boxing Day's rocoipts, JE633, constitute a record for one day'h running in Wellington the previous best, JCC42, being credited to December 2G, 1907.
