The Hon J. Carroll, Minister for Native Affairs, returned to Wellington jesteiday after a brief visit to the Rangitikei district. On' December 22 the degree of Doctor of ' Veterinary Science was conferred upon Professor J A. Gilruth, Dean of the , facultj of Veterinary Science, Melbourne University (formerly Chief Veterinarian m Now Zealand). Mr. S. S. Cameron (formerly of Dnnedin), now Principal Veterinary Officer in the Department o< Agriculture, Victoria, the degiee. i Mr. and Mrs James Gibb and Mr. J, C. Cherry, of San Francisco, have' left , Wellington to visit Rotorua. They will tiavel by way of the Wanganui Erver.
