I . THE:PRESIDENT RESIGNS. l : . A meeting of the Hutt' No-License : League •was hold last evening in; the Methodist: SchoolI room, Petono. Tho Rev. B. F. Rothwoll, Pf . Lower.Hutt, was voted to'the chair. . V : A discussion arose with regard to the .method 1 of. appointment of delegates to the convention regarding - tho licensing agreement.. That doubt might, bo removed concerning .the competence of the League Executive to act as they had done at the last meeting, it was resolved that.- the resolutions then adopted: should ; bo reaffirmed. The meeting agreed-that this course' was_ particularly- desiraole in > ■ regard to • tho motion dealing with statements' alleged, to have been made by the president (the Rev. T.vA. Williams). Tho meeting denied tho accuracy of those' alleged' statements, , arid repudiated any connection with- the publication-of them, 'A letter was received from tho Rev; T.: A. •Williams' (president), stating that he', preferred' to, resign ,his position rather than - withdraw i any statements .The. resignation was accepted,; and-, tho Itev.. B. F. Rothwoll: ,was '. elected . president'pro tem. .- ' ' ' A; motion was passed regretting that. unconstitutional methods on . tho ' part of the , oxecutive had placed the leaguo.'in'.an unsatis'.factory position. . : ; :• Tho Rev. A. J. Seamer gave notico .to movo that the resolution censuring those-responsible ' for the appointment of Mr. Piper as .dolegato be I rescinded. ■ ■ ■■ - -:
