TAREWELL TO LADY PLUNKET Hundreds of guests were pre-ent yesterday ' ifternoon at the garden patty given at Awarua ' by the Prim* Minister and Lady Ward, as a , farewell for her LscePency Lady Plunket, and 1 theso included several members of tho Cabinet mtb. th«ir wives, members of both houses of ' i tho Legishture ,, with their wives, prominent oßlciala, and leading citizens ■ , It was an exquisite afternoon, and though r to hot m town, it was exceedingly pleasant on tho lawn and under the trees at Awaiua, and ( the gue. ts 'strolled about the lawn or along tho terraced walk tho flowers, listening •f s to the music, and talking to their friends The ' lawn was well coveied,with people, and, seen <' from tho terrace, there seemed to be as many black coats and hats as bright or delicately coloured frocks', for Parliament had adjourned ) for a time, and n«uly all the members made their way to tho Prime Minister s residence A large marquee was trected at one end of the ' lawn, aud this was set with many tables, deT" , oot&M with {roUow coreopsis and foliage Tea ■f was wiere, and also atf many little i tables set a\ong tho terraced path, and on the i other side of tho lawn a band played all the 'afternoon. Soon after four o'clock their Ex- ' cellenciES the Governor and Lady Plunket 'i- arrived, accompanied by Captun Gathorno Hardy r Lady Ward recoivod in a hindsome pimcess frock of cream cloth, with sleoves and joke of , cream filet not covered with braiding in narrow \.\ oream silk braid, a mole coloured hat, with shaded pink roses, and grey foliage Miss 11 ,Ward wore a frock of cream ninon, made with a tunio skirt, the skirt and bodice trimmed r , with deep bands of filet laco insertion hcivily t • ■worked in silk, tho bodice finished with a cream laco yoke and narrow bands of electric 1 bluo. She wore a cream hat with bows of blue velvet and rose Her Kicollonoy Lady Plunkot ' * -woro a graceful gown of black chiffon trimmed with black laco insertion over white with deop pointed vc t of whito net, and large whito hat trimmed with mauvo roses Miss Hill, who j accompanied her, wore a braided frock of )• nut-brown rronch shantung, with yoke nna eloeves of cream uot, and brown aud green hat.
