Donaldson, a settlor near Inverell (341 miles north of Sydney), got into debt wagering on a boxing contest in which his son was engaged. Donaldson then attempted to shoot hia family, who lived on the son'e farm. He injured ,his daughter, not seriously, and missed his wife. ' His son got a gun and exchanged ehots with his father. The latter ran away. Subsoqm-ntly Donaldson was found dead, shot twice in the back. The son was arrested.
